Daphne – An Aristocratic Cat

May 16, 2013 – 9:38 am | 34 views

16/05/13: Amazingly Daphne was found abandoned on the streets in Almeria by a friend of the Spanish lady who runs a private rescue home. I don’t think she had been outside for long as her coat was not in very bad condition, but she is another example of the attitude to animals here. I love all cats but very Persian faces like Daphne’s are not …

04/11/12: Today a wonderful new photo appeared on facebook of 2 BIG cuddle girls!
27/08/12: A lovely new photos came onto Facebook yesterday of little Dolly looking very cuddly in her new home. All is fine with her and Anya.
06/05/12: Great news came last night that little Katrina is well on the mend. Her virus and fever did come back quite badly following the transport, but with the right treatment from MaPu’s German vet, within a week her fever is gone, she is eating really well, and only sneezing occasionally. life is now looking really good for her.
05/05/12: News and photos have now arrived from Dolly and Anya’s new family. All seems absolutely fine: “Tame and cuddly Anya is unchanged and shows endless curiosity. Dolly continues to thaw slowly. Until last night she was crawling through under the bathtub as a hiding place, but now she is living outside, playing with Anya and exploring the apartment. She is still a bit reserved, but from time will accept caresses and treats from our hands. We just need a little more time, but after this sudden progress I think it will not be long. Anya infection is almost completely subsided. At first she was still coughing from time to time, but that is now over.”

23:00: All 3 have arrived in Germany fine. Katrina and her new boyfriend are a very handsome couple. She is sneezing a little again, but MaPu will visit her on Monday to check things. Anya seems fine and was instantly at home. Dolly does seem to have grown in confidence during her 10 days with me. She let her adoptants stroke her from the beginning!
28/04/12: I have had the pleasure for 10 days of looking after Dolly, Anya and Katrina, and became very fond of these lovely little girls. They are PAWs Mojacar cats, but as Anya and Katrina had been struggling with a virus for weeks, and Katrina had not even been able to start vaccinations, their adoptions were at risk, and it was decided to isolate them from the rest of the cattery cats. I am very happy that they responded so well to the new environment, food and treatment, and within days Katrina could have enough vaccinations and was cleared by my vet to travel to Germany.

When they left on the transport yesterday there had been no sneezing for several days from Katrina or Anya and I am really hoping the journey will not set them back. They are beautiful friendly little girls. Katrina has a new young male cat to befriend in her forever home, while Anya and the slightly more shy Dolly have a lovely home together, as the first cats of a young couple who can’t wait to meet them.

Of course Anya and Katrina have been completely charming, demanding lots of attention and cuddles. Dolly hid for the first few days but once she came out for food I could touch her and she was never aggressive. By the last couple of days we were friends, doing tummy tickles with lots of purring. She will just need a little time, and I have advised her adoptants not to be afraid to touch her, and to make sure she gets lots of attention, and not to let the much more sociable Anya grab all the limelight.

Their last day here was very funny as Bracken, a handsome 18 month old boy, joined them. The little girls were VERY excited and so persistent that it was Bracken who was hiding from them, and rushing out to ask for help when I went in! Anya in particular seemed quite glued to him, but I suspect this little madam is about to come on heat, from some of her other antics!

Enjoy their photos. They are adorable kittens and will all be beautiful cats. The first photos I took on their last day here:
