Gentle Girl Cats Eddi & Hatti

18/05/12: Time to meet Eddi and Hatti (9 months) who came to me from Murcia! This is way out of my normal area for re-homing but I could not ignore their plight or that of their mother Marli. All 3 were abandoned by their English family, and their neighbour who had taken them in had tried for months to find a local rescue to help …

Beautiful Lucy Cat

I seem to be having a run on posts about white cats. Lucy is a gorgeous girl, and I am very happy for her that things are starting to look up. She now has a whole home to explore. This for now is a foster home, but with these fantastic new photos I hope she will find her forever home very soon.

Lucy was brought to us from Roquetas, when a couple rescued her from their neighbour’s dogs, just in time. Lucy was literally clinging to a wall, her kittens having already been killed.

She seemed to recover well from that experience, but was nervous of the other cats in her foster home so was temporarily homed in a spare bedroom. This turned out to be a lucky decision, as poor Lucy tested positive for FelV, cat Leukaemia Virus.

Following this result, she had to be kept isolated until a foster home alone could be found for her. Some weeks ago one came free in Germany, and last week she flew to a better life with Miriam and Anita from the German organisation who came to visit us. For the 3 days they were here Lucy transferred to their holiday home and spent her last 2 nights in Spain sleeping on Miriam’s bed with her.

She is a lovely, tame cat and the latest from her foster home is that she loves to be stroked and cuddled! On first arriving there she was more keen to explore, and check out her new home, not surprising after weeks in only one room:

Lucy came out of the bag and moved throught the apartment and checked all… she had no time to cuddle… but she seems to be very heathy… she was interested in all and talked a lot…”

We are all happy that she arrived well and didn’t seem to be too stressed by her journey. Lucy carries FelV, but currently is asymptomatic. She is not ill and it will hopefully be years before she becomes ill, and it is not certain she will. She could however pass the virus to another cat, so must be an only cat in her final home or live with another FelV positive cat. We all wish this beautiful girl well for the future.

Thank you to Jean and George for looking after her so well here, and I would also like to thank Miriam for visiting and taking some fantastic photos of Lucy. Below are also some I took here in Almerimar, and the latest ones from Germany.
