Gentle Girl Cats Eddi & Hatti

May 18, 2012 – 6:04 pm | 6 views

18/05/12: Time to meet Eddi and Hatti (9 months) who came to me from Murcia! This is way out of my normal area for re-homing but I could not ignore their plight or that of their mother Marli. All 3 were abandoned by their English family, and their neighbour who had taken them in had tried for months to find a local rescue to help …

Bertie – The Beautiful

03/10/11: Bertie has now been in Germany almost 3 months, and at last we have photos of him! Actually I am pleased that his new family waited as we can finally see Bertie at his most handsome best! His fur is beautiful and long again AND much more ginger that I expected. I LOVE his tiger stripes! Other news is that he has a new (possibly permanent) girlfriend, whom his Mum is fostering. She is Susi, a 5 year old gentle, loving female from Hungary. She has had a very tough time as she and her friends were living with a very old man who did not feed them or look after them properly.

When he died his family wanted them out of the house, so things got worse until they were rescued and sent to Katzenherzen in Germany. All were under nourished and very thin, but Susi is already feeling much stronger and is now very loved, apart from by a quite un-impressed Bertie! Here’s hoping his better side comes out soon!!! Bertie is a big cuddle boy but he does like to rule the house. Susi will need to stand up to him when she feels more confident and then Kerstin thinks all will be fine.

I was a little confused about Bertie’s home because Kerstin does not mention the Main Coons that I thought his Mum had. Now Kerstin has clarified everything. Because Bertie’s Mum is still fostering Sophi and Otto, Bertie is for now living with her boyfriend, who is now also fostering Susi as Bertie seemed a little lonely. Later he will get to meet his rather bigger Main Coon friends!

03/07/11: Pam has now had the ‘joy’ of Bertie for almost 2 months. He IS a lovely affectionate people cat, BUT having got his strength back, he has turned into a not so pleasant cat cat! She is having to keep him apart from her 2 cats, whom Bertie terrorises! I’m wondering if this aggressive behaviour is a reaction to his time on the streets, and if he will calm down in his new home.

We are also hoping that Bertie’s new housemates, the 2 older Main Coon cats, being much bigger than Bertie, will put him firmly in his place, which is often all that is needed in these cases. For his first couple of weeks in germany however, Bertie if off to a foster home to calm down, as his new Mum is currently fostering 2 beautiful, more nervous cats from AlStrays, Sophie and Otto. They really don’t need a taste of Bertie’s dark side!

Enjoy the latest photos of this character cat!

14/05/11: Bertie is an Almerimar cat, which is a good change for Almerimar Strays! I am now helping cats across the Almeria region, but it is always lovely to help a local one.

Bertie IS a beautiful, exotic, Persian-mix cat, but for now he is rather embarrassed by his appearance!

He was found dirty, starving and afraid in the street here, having been badly bitten by a more feral cat, AND having had a very bad haircut. Apart from his paws and the end of his tail, most of his beautiful long hair had been cut short! Bertie is now busy recuperating, eating and restoring his confidence at Pam’s, where he is being very well looked after. His abcess was drained and his leg is healing well, and the good news was that Bertie’s blood tests were negative, so he has no long-term problems after his weeks on the streets. Soon he will be a beautiful long-haired cat again.

In the meantime Bertie is now part of Pam and John’s animal family AND he already has his forever home waiting for him in Germany. A lovely lady (Bettina) who fosters cats for Karzenherzen, and already has 2 older Main Coon cats, will be Bertie’s new Mum. He needs a little more time to have all his vaccinations and regain his strength, but should be off to his new life in the next month. I am sure he will be better looked after in the future!
