While we await news of our latest travelers to Germany, who should be by now off the transport and on their way to their new homes, here are some great pictures of Charlie and Felix in their new homes.

UPDATE 24/03/09
More great news from Germany:
“Greetings from jasper too….there was a visit after one week in his new home….he is the boss !!! all the people do, what jasper wants..and he is so happy ;o) in july he will be neutered and then he can go out…sheeps, cows, only green, no streets in front of his house….;o)”

“Tabitha is well too and very in love with guapa (cat) who lives at her new home :o )”

22/03/09: It is now just over a week since 5 of out cats arrived at their new homes in Germany, and almost a week since little Bono travelled to Switzerland. So far, bar the odd sniffle and runny eye, everything seems to be working out fine for all of our little buddies, and the emails from Germany make great reading and put any concerns for these lovely animals’ futures to rest. (If you haven’t already read the many posts on these cats and kittens, please click on the individual names in the Tag Cloud.)

The first real news was last Sunday 15th from Martina, who had picked up Bonny, Felix and Tabitha from the transport:

News from Germany is that, after their 24 hour drive, all our cats are safe and well. Charlie has yet to arrive in his new home and we seem to be missing his passport, but I’m sure everything will be fine.

As for Tabitha and the kittens, all sounds very promising from Martina’s email, and I’m sure that Bonny and Felix will completely get over being parted soon.

This morning both Mary and I were up at 5.30am to collect some of our foster cats and take them to board the van to Germany. This was the end of a VERY busy week for me, which, as well as sorting all the final stuff for today’s transport, also included sorting a foster home for another rescued kitten (more on him tomorrow).

Taking the cats up to the dog rescue to meet up with Jos, his vet Miguel and all the other animal lovers, and board them for Germany is an ‘interesting’ experience.

Time for another update, mainly on our current foster kids as it is getting close to the time when they will leave us, either for Germany or for new homes here in Almerimar.

It has been a pretty busy 10 days since my last update! We have been concentrating on getting more of our semi-feral cats sterilised, whilst continuing to look after our foster cats and get them ready to travel to Germany.

Jos and Miguel at the dog rescue have organised their week now so that Friday is going to be effectively ‘cat day’, and we have agreed with Gisela at the cat rescue that she will take our females in for 2-3 days after their operations and keep them in comfy cages until they are ready to be let out again.

Tabitha Cat

Today has been a fantastic day on the Almerimar Strays front. Firstly we caught Tabitha cat, our lovely tabby, who was we believe adandoned in Calle Alcor just before Christmas. We then took her, along with Charlie up to Jos’s dog rescue centre for his vet to sterilise.

Lovely Boy

Update 22:00: CHARLIE HAS A HOME!!! I have had another email from Kerstin this evening, and the lady Anja has decided that she definitely wants to give him a home which is great news.

Things are definitely looking up for Charlie, who Pam and I rescued from the square about 10 days ago. He had been begging for food in all the restaurants, was hungry and thin, and being a VERY friendly cat, definitely deserved a better life.
