Since our 4 ‘Easter’ cats set off on the transport to Germany on Good Friday, I have received some great updates from the girls in Germany:

I have great confidence in Jos, who transports out cats to Germany for us, but it is always good to hear that our little buddies have arrived safely, as it is a very long journey.

UPDATE: 10/04/09
On their way … yippee!!! All went very smoothly as usual.
Wow that took some emails. FINALLY this morning I got confirmation that Korky and Phoebe, along with Jack and Bruno will be traveling to German on the transport van tomorrow morning. This has taken a lot of work and organising from the great girls in Germany, to sort foster homes and logistics over there.

We now have definite confirmation that Korky and Phoebe were abandoned and are from the same home.
Pam was talking to an English lady on one of the boats last night who actually saw them being pushed out of a car, which then drove off. This was very early one morning. I don’t have the right words for these people, apart from the hope that they did actually leave them where they did because they knew other strays were being fed there, rather than it being just a lucky chance.

GREAT news! Having counted all the small change, I can now confirm that Pam’s Almerimar Strays (mainly) book sale raise 235€ on Saturday, which is fantastic, particularly as we have effectively already spent the money helping Korky and Phoebe. SO thank you to everyone who supported it, and i hope you will all come to the next one if you can, at the end of this month, when there will be more books and other goodies for sale, all for a very good cause.

Spoke to Dawn today about Korky and Phoebe, our latest rescues. It seems they are both fine after their sterilisations on Friday, and after a final jab on Monday, their passports will be ready for travel.

Thank you to Pam for her strong comment below about our latest cat rescue. Having seen the pictures of these beautiful creatures in my last post, I’m sure that you can sympathise with her feelings. I have had conversations many times in the past about why I became involved in helping the stray cats, and it is definitely the abandoned ones that I feel most distressed for.
