Meet Harvey

I’ve written before about my frustration that some of our beautiful, people loving stray cats keep getting ‘bumped’ down the list for re-homing by newly-abandoned, more vulnerable ‘pets’. I’m now really pleased to be able to report that Harvey and Greta are now booked for re-homing in Germany. They are the remaining 2 siblings of a litter that was left on the rocks about a year ago, and along with Mina and Tommy and a couple of others, have been our Rock Cats for the past year.

Mina @ Pam’s

Great news at the weekend from Germany; Mina the sweet little Tabby from the rocks that Pam had been feeding for over a year, has arrived in Germany and found a home almost immediately.

Great news this afternoon, that both Cookie and Mina have arrived safely in Germany, and are now in their foster homes there. It is always good to hear as the transport takes close to 24 hours, so is a very long trip for the poor little buddies. Now we just have Tommy in a foster home here in Almerimar and Caesar in the cat rescue home with Gisela, but as always I have plans to help more cats!

UPDATE: 22/04/09 17:00
Great news! Tommy now has a foster home with Nicola and Erika and is out of his cage and enjoying a nice meaty meal. Now I just hope he settles into apartment life as he has been a street cat for several years. Being FIV positive, the outdoor life is not longer an option for him. If things are looking good he will be castrated, chipped etc. next week and with luck, the German girls will find him a home soon. Even better, as Erika is flying to Munich in June, she will hopefully be able to take him with her, as the stressful 24 hours transport will not be great for this FIV cat. What a lucky boy!!! So far so good.

So far everything has gone to plan this week. Yesterday we caught Monster Mog or Caesar as we are now calling him, and after an overnighter with Jenny he has been up to vet Miguel today to be ‘processed’.

OK this week is now organised. Pam and I did try and catch another pregnant female this morning but she was unusually skittish so we are resigned to the fact that more kittens are coming. We are hoping she will have them on one of the boats and we may be able to find them earlier enough to (I’m sorry) destroy them. This HAS to be the best option for tiny kittens, although I know i will still find it hard.
