Damn!!! After my failed attempt to catch Mimi cat last week, she is DEFINITELY more skittish, and won’t let me stroke her neck at all. I barely manage to touch her this morning let alone get hold of her very thin little neck. We took lovely pate to tempt her out, but she kept grabbing chunks and running into the bushes to eat them, where she then sat yelling at us! This is one canny little cat, and SO frustrating as we are actually trying to sterilise her partly for her own good.

It has been a pretty busy 10 days since my last update! We have been concentrating on getting more of our semi-feral cats sterilised, whilst continuing to look after our foster cats and get them ready to travel to Germany.

Jos and Miguel at the dog rescue have organised their week now so that Friday is going to be effectively ‘cat day’, and we have agreed with Gisela at the cat rescue that she will take our females in for 2-3 days after their operations and keep them in comfy cages until they are ready to be let out again.

This is a slightly amusing correction to my previous post. Today we only had one cat sterilised … the male. Having tranquilised the female, Jos and Miguel fortunately noticed the tell-tale snip in one of her ears, which signals that she has already been spayed! Thank goodness they DID notice, before putting the poor cat through an unnecessary procedure!

Pam and I were left feeling slightly bemused, firstly that we HADN’T noticed, and secondly as to who may have previously sterilised this cat.

Pretty Little Female

More success today, as we caught 2 more of our semi-feral cats on the rocks, and have taken them up to Jos’s vet Miguel for sterilisation.

Sweet Tabby Cat

Today has been another great day for Almerimar Strays. Even people who don’t agree with the feeding and supporting of the stray cats, should be happy with what we have achieved today.
