December Transport

26/11/10: This morning 8 more cats set off on the transport to Germany. Carys & Dylan, and Dino & Emely from foster Mum Erika’s are on their way to foster homes.

12/11/10: FINALLY over the past week we have got 25 cats to Germany. This has eased our strained foster homes considerably, and the great news is that many of our travellers have gone straight to adoptants.

27/10/10: The last week things have continued to be very busy for me, and for Erika who is now looking after 12 foster kittens! I am trying not to take responsibility for too many more cats, as I now have 29 in foster care!
Successful Book Sale
Once again, thank you to Pam Roberts and all her helpers for yesterday’s book sale. Another 220€ has been raised to help the stray animals here.

Stray Animal Budget Cut In Roquetas
Just read this on David’s Blog which doesn’t sound very encouraging:
Roquetas town hall has taken advantage of a renegotiation with the private company that runs its stray animal shelter to cut its budget in half, this year to only €75,000, as part of its 2009 Austerity Budget.

The law in Andalucia makes all strays the responsability of the town hall of the area they’re found in. They are supposed to be taken in, assessed by a third party vet, and either put down if very unwell or savage, or put up for adoption.
