22/05/13: Now I have some lovely photos of these 2 in their new home.
26/04/13: Luca traveled to Germany on the 06.04 transport, originally destined for a lovely foster home there. However the week before the transport a family decided to adopt him, AND they have also adopted his little friend from Almeria, MaryNury who is also VERY sweet. I saw how nicely they played together …

14/06/11: Gizmo has now completely recovered from his pneumonia and is very well and happy! -today I received a lovely photo of him with his new best friend Sam, AND Anke tells me Gizmo also has a favourite toy … a hair tie!!!

Gizmo With Sam

17/04/11: Gizmo was another of Matt’s tame, outside rescue cats, and he too travelled to Germany on March 11th, to a lovely new home with a cat and a friendly dog.

All seemed fine for the first few days; his new family loved him immediately, and Gizmo was enjoying all the great food and attention. Then things took a turn for the worse. Gizmo appeared to have caught a bad chill on the transport, and went downhill very fast. He developed a VERY bad chest infection, and we were amazed to learn that our lean healthy boy was on the danger list, having not responded brilliantly to his first course of antibiotics.

The latest news is that he has pulled through, is finally off antibiotics after a recurrence, and is eating well and playing again. The German vet is still worried that he has been left with a permanently damaged chest, but only time will tell. I am just relieved to know he is feeling better and we are not going to lose him. I wish him well in his new life with his new friends.

And for the winter transports my new policy is to make sure if possible the cats have a little more fat on them before they travel. We will be trying tempting meat treats for the cats like Gizmo who aren’t great eaters in future! I want to try and avoid another scare like this one.
