Ellie – An Abandoned Sweetheart

May 21, 2013 – 12:20 am | 30 views

21/05/13: Ellie has had a tough 10 days since I last posted about her. She ate ok for a few days and then started to vomit her food, we think as a reaction to the antibiotics. I was so worried that I moved her to a small rescue home where the owner had better food and medicine options and a lot of experience of problems …

Gus, Nina & Petra Kittens

12/06/11: Time for an update on these kittens. Little Nina found her forever home and has been there for over 6 weeks now. All is fine. Gus and Petra meanwhile are still waiting for their adoptant, but for now are very happy in their foster home. It does often take more time when we are looking to home 2 cats together, but I am sure this lovely pair will find their home soon. In the meantime, I have a lovely, new, sweet photo of them together and one of Nina that Martina took before she went off to her adoptant.

Cheeky Nina

21/03/11: Gus, Nina and Petra are a real success story for their foster Mum Pauline in Spain. Born in July 2010, they started life as part of a litter of 5 born to a semi-feral mother in the garden of a Scottish lady who fed her.

I had originally planned to help re-home all 5 kittens, but when Tracy from PAWs went to ‘collect’ them, she only managed to come away with 3! This was the first warning that these kittens were not quite as tame as we had been led to believe!

They spent the next few weeks in Matt’s spare bedroom, where they remained very nervous and unhappy, and desperate to get outside again. A decision was then made to move them to a large cage in Pauline’s garden, where they would hopefully feel more at home. This change of scene, helped a lot, and Pauline’s love and care did the rest.

By the time she checked them into the PAWs cattery for their final 10 days, Gus and Petra were friendly, confident little cats, and Nina, although still a little shy, has settled brilliantly into her foster home in Germany. I saw them just before they left for Germany, and all 3 were I think very unimpressed about being back in pen, having for some weeks enjoyed the freedom of Pauline’s house.

They are all however looking happy and playful in their foster homes in Germany, and Gus and Petra, who are together, are described as not shy AT ALL! Nina cried a lot when she first arrived but by day 2 was eating and playing with her new housemate. All is fine with these 3 and I am sure they will find their forever homes soon. Enjoy the photos. The last one of 2 quite feral kittens trying to escape, still makes me smile. They have come a very long way! Well done to Pauline and everyone else who has helped them.
