Ellie – An Abandoned Sweetheart

May 21, 2013 – 12:20 am | 26 views

21/05/13: Ellie has had a tough 10 days since I last posted about her. She ate ok for a few days and then started to vomit her food, we think as a reaction to the antibiotics. I was so worried that I moved her to a small rescue home where the owner had better food and medicine options and a lot of experience of problems …

Katya & Lisa – Abandoned Cuddle Cats

04/05/12: Finally I have photos of Lisa looking very happy in her foster home.

These are great to see, because she was so traumatised when we first rescued her, having been abused we think by her previous owner AND naughty Katya. Now she looks a lovely, friendly relaxed cat, and I’m hoping will find her forever home very soon. I love the photo of her with a cat friend as she was SO afraid of the other foster cats at Erika’s. She looks to have recovered very well from her earlier ordeals.

12/04/11: These are the latest photos of Katya the cuddle cat, in her foster home in Germany. The latest great news is that she now has an adoptant, and should be off to her new life soon.

10/04/11: It really is time that I introduced Katya and Lisa, 2 lovely torty girls, whom I rescued from a waiter here in Almerimar who I was told was just about to abandon them to the streets.

When I met him he seemed more compassionate than that, but he obviously didn’t want the cats, that had belonged to his ex-girlfriend. I guess you could say it was actually her who had abandoned them to an unloving home. Both were visibly distressed when we first took them and whilst Katya recovered her equilibrium pretty quickly and responded well to affection, Lisa was still a little afraid and nervous when they both traveled to Germany on the March 11th transport.

I was told that Lisa was actually Katya daughter, which may explain why Katya disliked her so much, as mother cats often want rid of their grown up kittens. While poor little Lisa was struggling to adjust to her changed circumstances, Katya had a habit of hitting her in a definitely un-playful way. Lisa in fact was so cowed and hiding at the beginning we did wonder if, in terms of abuse, Katya was the only guilty party!

As it was obvious these 2 ladies were not friends, separate foster homes were found in Germany, and little Lisa is now doing fine. Katya meanwhile, whilst not appearing overly fond of other cats, certainly seems to adore people, and blossomed quickly with all the new found love and attention into a real cuddle cat.

She even completely charmed Chris and Ken, her drivers to Germany, when having managed to escaped her transport box during the journey, she made her way right to the front of the people carrier, and spent the next 6 hours mostly cuddled up on one of their laps.

Ken was so charmed he was tempted not to hand her over at the French border to the German girls, but to take her home with him, until I explained that she wouldn’t take kindly to his existing 4 cats!

Katya is definitely first and foremost a people cat! Enjoy the photos, and look out for the latest ones from Germany of our cuddle girl Katya in the next couple of days!
