Little Bono Update
Bono was our biggest rescue. He is the gorgeous kitten that was unable to eat himself when we first rescued him, because his poor little mouth wouldn’t open sufficiently, which is possibly why he was abandoned. We fed him meat smoothies and milk for weeks using a syringe, and when he was finally able to slowly eat soft food, Martina found him a fantastic home …
Strays Update 16/06/09
I had a very constructive morning today. Big Tommy (our FIV positive Tomcat) had blood taken by Miguel for a plasma test. It seems that the quick test sometimes give positive results in error, so we are hoping that this more accurate one at the lab may give him a FIV negative result, which will mean he can travel to Germany this weekend. Roya is …

Stray Cats Update 05/03/09
Time for another update, mainly on our current foster kids as it is getting close to the time when they will leave us, either for Germany or for new homes here in Almerimar.
I am hoping to see Jos tomorrow to find out the exact date of the next transport to Germany (we hope the 13th or 14th), and finally be told how many boxes …
Stray Cats Update 14/02/09
Last Saturday I managed to take some really great photos and video of little Bono. The video started off as a diagnostic idea so that a vet friend of Mary’s could try and give us a second opinion, but was also very cute, and features some ‘interesting’ background chat!
The photos have gone down so well in Germany that Martina emailed me on Thursday to say …
A Day In the Life Of …
Life IS pretty hectic at the moment with regard to all the cat stuff, and Chris definitely thinks I’m a little obsessive at times, and that it does tend to take over our lives. Cats can come even before food shopping and definitely before cleaning in our house, but then I was always good at finding something to come before that.
However I’m not …

Kitten Update
22/01/09: I’ve just spoken to Tracy and she has now let the latest Almerimar 5 have the run of her basement. Little Jasper has adjusted brilliantly and is rushing around happily on his caste, so I’m really pleased that we put it on to stop him limping. Felix the smallest is still sneezing, but he is eating well, and they are all still on antibiotics. …
Stray Cats Update 16/01/09
This has been a busy and successful week for Almerimar Strays, certainly for me! Little Bono has needed 3 trips to the vet and many feeds with syringes. His mouth continues to be a problem and we are hoping that his latest Cortisone treatment will finally do the trick and free up his muscles so that he can eat properly by himself. Now he is …
Bono Update
This morning we took little Bono back to the vet for more injections. Even Begona thinks there is an improvement in his poor little locked mouth. He is still on daily antibiotic and anti-inflammatory injections, for a suspected infection in his jaw muscles or nerves. We are having to be very patient and in the meantime continue to feed him liquids by syringe.

First Rescue Of 2009
Yesterday Pam saw a beautiful little Siamese/Persian cross kitten that appeared to have been abandoned, on the rocks with the other stray cats. She said that he was really friendly, was very hungry, rushing from bowl to bowl for food, and appeared to have a bad cold. It seems that our priorities in trying to help the stray cats here will always change, depending …
