30/04/13: Tomorrow beautiful little Fleur is 3 years old and we will be having Merluza as her special treat because unlike my other cats, Fleur does not like prawns. The love of her life is Mori, and her second best friend is Oscar. Chris and I are probably next in line, and sometimes she will play with Dusky and Kasper, and even say hello …
22/03/13: Today some very sad news has come from Germany. Gizmo has had to be put to sleep, and he was not quite 4 years old. His Mum Verena took him to the vet because she thought he had an infected tooth, and in fact he had an inoperable tumour. She decided not to let him suffer, and this beautiful boy will now be in …
27/01/13: It is over a year since we last heard from this gorgeous pair, but yesterday MaPu sent on greetings and new photos of 2 grown up boys. Miso has become much darker and remains very handsome, while Cody is still SO cute!!! these boys are very special to me because we fostered them here in Almerimar and i knew them both very well. …
06/08/12: A few weeks ago I had the very sad news that little Daiki had had to be put to sleep because she had FIP. We were all very sad and also very worried that Portos may become sick too. Today the news is much better. Portos is very well, and his family have decided to adopt a new friend for him. Cheska will move …
06/03/12: Today I received another lovely photo of Simba and Leo in their new home!
15/02/12: You will hopefully all have seen the beautiful Lancelot on this blog and read his story, but one part of his life in Spain you have yet to know. Just after he was castrated as a young man, he managed to father 4 beautiful kittens with a nervous female at …
Juli and Milos are 2 more beautiful kittens from Montse’s cat rescue. They were first helped by a kind Spanish man who saw them and their friends outside a supermarket and fed them for some weeks before he took them to Montse. Juli was always quite nervous, so it was fortunate that the German family who fell in love with her photos asked for a …
05/07/11: It is always great to get updates on the many cats we have sent to Germany over the past 3 years, but I hadn’t realised it was so long since we last heard from our little Pippa and her Spanish boyfriend Leo. Kitten love has turned into cat love! From these new photos it is clear both are still very happy. Our little girl …
23/06/11: Saffron and Korma DO have an adoptant waiting for them in Germany, and in the meantime ARE being thoroughly spolit at Tracey and Kev’s. son Jack loves these friendly, cheeky kittens. I miss them and look forward to seeing them again on Monday.
12/06/11: Time for an update on these kittens. Little Nina found her forever home and has been there for over 6 weeks now. All is fine. Gus and Petra meanwhile are still waiting for their adoptant, but for now are very happy in their foster home. It does often take more time when we are looking to home 2 cats together, but I am …
22/01/11:Marty has now been in Germany for just over 10 months, and FINALLY I have new photos of him, in his forever home!
This is my article published in the Euro Weekly News today. We have achieved a lot this summer, but there is still much to be done to rescue and re-home all the kittens.
Again I seem to have neglected my blog a little, as I have been SO busy on email arranging rescues and homes for more stray cats, sorting vet visits and this week fundraising! It is definitely time for another update.
This is my article published in the Euro Weekly News on Thursday. It talks a little about the marketing challenges of trying to re-home so many cats and kittens.
Fleur is for now my foster kitten, since I rescued her from a walled garden on Thursday evening. She is about 6 weeks old and is delicate and beautiful.
Amazingly after 18 months of re-homing cats and kittens, and lots of great news and photos from Germany, some people still doubt whether our strays are REALLY going to loving homes. Well here are 4 more fantastic pictures.
I wrote a few weeks ago that Snoopy & Luke were happy in their new home, and this latest photo certainly shows that again!
Froylan & Floffy are 2 lovely little kittens from a cat rescue in Murcia, who came to us when the January transport to Germany was turned back due to snow.
These lovely little Tomcats are happily settled in their new home, with some very friendly looking parents. Domino was abandoned in an apartment block here, and joined the 3 rock kittens at Mike and Jayne’s, where he and Rocky became the cutest friends.
Snoopy & Luke are finally settled in a forever home together, with a lovely older cat called Simba, who seemed very happy to have 2 new little friends from the start. Their new owner sounds a very sweet lady, as she understands that they won’t be really settled for several months.
I have new pictures of Balu looking very well, and this from his foster Mum:
“He has a beautiful coat that shines like a piano, he talks a lot and his handsome face looks really aristocratic! Balu is still very shy and does not want to get too close. He feels most comfortable when he is not looked at. Then he rages through the house at …
I have just received these great new photos of Luc & Lucie in their new home. I knew that these 2 had become the best of friends, which is why we really wanted to find them a forever home together, but until now I had not managed to get a picture of them snuggled up together. Meeting Luc was the best thing for our rather …
It is always great to get new pictures of our cats happy in their forever homes, but even better when their new parents take great photos. These new ones of Lutz are fantastic, but then he is also a VERY photogenic boy! I have a feeling we will be getting more of them too, as Lutz’s new Dad is now working very closely with our …
Along with their sister Ruthie, Kika & Betty came to us from the protectora in September, and after 2 months of spoiling by Tracey, Kev and Jack, travelled to Germany at the end of November, straight to a new forever home. Their sister Ruthie meanwhile has a new home too and was joined in December by another of our kittens, little Ricki. Enjoy these great …
Little Felix was the smallest of the 5 kittens that we rescued from the rocks here at the beginning of 2009. He has been in his new home since March last year and until now we have had no photos of him. It is therefore great to see him looking SO snuggled up, and great to know that he now has a friend that he …
Farley & Molly were tiny babies when they came to us in September with their beautiful mother Britta. Now they have a great forever home together in Germany with a lovely lady in her brand new apartment. She fell for them when she saw my original photos of them at only a few weeks old and waited over 2 months for them to travel to …
Elsa kitten came to us in November from the protectora. Jos who runs it found her in his garden, and like everyone who met her, fell in love with her. She IS a little darling. She loves all people cat and dogs and is SO sweet. We were very sorry to part with her, but as you can see from these photos of her …
Wednesday 13th January
Marty has been to the vet today for further vaccinations and now only has one more injection to go. We were also a little worried about a ‘film’ in his eyes. Miguel checked this out and told me that he has slight damage to his third eyelids which cause them to sometimes move over part of his eyes. This is not a real …
Wednesday 13th January
Today Trixie was finally big enough to have her blood test which good news was negative. She also had 2 more vaccinations and is now almost ready to travel. Her stomach is much better but as we finally have the recommended homeopathic medicine ready, she will get extra treatment. Further good news is that in the last couple of days, Kerstin has emailed …
I have received some great new photos of our Coyota Kittens, in the snow! Now called Salina & Sierra, they apparently love it, and this is definitely an experience they would have been unlikely to have had here in Almerimar.
Sweet Little Elsa
Little Elsa is another kitten we have taken from the dog protectora. She was actually left in Jos’s garden, and he effectively took her into work!
Rocky, Belle & Twiggs
Thought it was time that I introduced you to Rocky, Belle and Twiggs, our latest Almerimar litter to be dumped on the rocks.
Little Chivers & Best Mate Edi
At the end of July I posted the first great photos of little Chivers in his new home. These are new ones of him loving his new friend Edi, and being kissed by the home’s older, bigger cat!
Amazingly people still ask me if we are really sending our cats to Germany, to good homes, or to strange people …
I think Brita is the most beautiful Tabby cat I have seen. I love her big green eyes, and she has a gorgeous soft, longish coat, and is tall and slim.
Little Coyota Girl
These gorgeous little girls were left up at the Protectora, and when I first saw them were in a small box with their mother in the dog surgery. we think they are now about 8 weeks old.
I took this yesterday of little, playful Pippa having fun. Lutz was joining in, but Luke and Snoopy were feeling sleepy after a big meal! Enjoy!!!
One VERY Contented Kitten
Here is Xabi in his new home, and I’m not sure a cat could look more relaxed and contented!
Thought it was time for a quick update on all our foster cats … we currently have 18! This includes a beautiful new 6-week old kitten that Jean and George have taken in, and that I have yet to meet.
Felix has changed a lot in the last few weeks; he now looks more like a minature cat and is VERY cute!
