Transport Process

We offer two transport services: a not for profit transport of re-homed cats working directly with rescue centers in Spain and a commercial service for cat owners wanting their pets transferred between the UK and Spain.

Rescued Cats Transport

We transport the re-homed cats to Germany on a regular basis with the dates published in advance on the Diary Page.

We start loading in Almerimar at 6.00am on a Friday morning, leave our final pick up point at Camping Los Gallardos by 9.30am, and hand the cats over in Germany by 7.30am on the Saturday.

We pick up cats from the following places as required: Almeria BP Garage at the first roundabout off J446 and Los Gallardos Camping, and Murcia at Repsol Santonera on the A7/E15 first service station after Junction 82 heading north. The locations are always the same and if we are picking cats up from these locations they must be at each location by:

6.30am Almeria
7.30am Los Gallardos
10.30am Murcia

The boxes MUST be approved in advance, so if you have any doubts please check this page for the dimensions that we can accept, and the water bowl MUST be fitted securely INSIDE the box (don’t be afraid to use tie wraps if necessary) but empty, and the cat should not have been fed since 6pm the night before.

Please note though that boxes MUST NOT be any bigger than those on this page. However tempting it is to sneak in a bigger box this causes us real problems as we have an optimum layout that we must achieve if we are going to cover the costs of the transport, and if we can’t load your box because it is too big then we will have no option other than to leave the box and the cat with you.

TIP don’t put a blanket or bedding into the cat box when you are transporting it to the drop off location. If it going to go to the toilet far better it does it in an empty box that you can easily clean out before handing the cat over to us. Put the bedding into the box once you are at the drop off location.

After we have secured all the cats we will fill up their water bowls as part of our final check before setting off.

Please ensure that your box is labelled with your unique identifier i.e. XX01 which Sands will provide you with, as we will produce labels with the cats name and the cat box identifier for each cat and their passport, and these are updated and traced through a Google Docs Spreadsheet, which you are more than welcome to view (again just ask Sands for the details).

We drive in three hour shifts, stopping every three hours to check the cats and fill up their water, top up the Van with fuel, and take on some food and drink ourselves, as well as take a short break to stretch and get some circulation going through the body!

We drive straight through with a number of short breaks to rest.

We will provide regular progress updates via Twitter which are posted directly in the sidebar on the site along with any TwitPics that we take en route.

The rescue centres contribute 30€ per cat towards the cost of the transport.

Cat & Dog Transportation to UK

The cost of this is 250€ per cat or small dog, provided they are transported in one of our standard sized boxes.

We can accommodate larger boxes with advanced noticed at a higher rate, and if you need your per transported before a scheduled date we can usually sort that out, but again at a higher costs as it will be a specific trip for your pet.

Although a Commercial Venture our rates are remarkably competitive and we will try and match or better any quote that you have received. We run these transports through our UK based VAT Partnership M2 Associates, which is registered in the UK. You will be invoiced through this business for the transport of your pets.
