Re-homed Cat & Dog Transport to Germany

We transport the re-homed cats and dogs to Germany on a regular basis with the dates published in advance on the Diary Page.

We leave Almerimar at 9am on a Friday morning and hand over the cats at Bruchsal at 9.30am on the Saturday and Wallau at 11.30am on the Saturday, before turning round and driving straight back!

We pick up cats from the following places as required: Almeria BP Garage at the first roundabout off J446 and Los Gallardos Camping, and Murcia at Repsol Santonera on the A7/E15 first service station Junction 750 heading north. The locations are always the same and if we are picking cats up from these locations they must be their at least 15 mins prior to confirmed pick up.

The boxes MUST be approved in advance, so if you have any doubts please check this page for the dimensions that we can accept, and the water bowl MUST be fitted securely INSIDE the box (don’t be afraid to use tie wraps if necessary) but empty, and the cat should not have been fed since 6pm the night before.

Please note though that boxes MUST NOT be any bigger than those on this page. However tempting it is to sneak in a bigger box this causes us real problems as we have an optimum layout that we must achieve if we are going to cover the costs of the transport, and if we can’t load your box because it is too big then we will have no option other than to leave the box and the cat with you.

TIP don’t put a blanket or bedding into the cat box when you are transporting it to the drop off location. If it going to go to the toilet far better it does it in an empty box that you can easily clean out before handing the cat over to us. Put the bedding into the box once you are at the drop off location.

After we have secured all the cats we will fill up their water bowls as part of our final check before setting off.

Please ensure that your box is labelled with your unique identifier i.e. XX01 which Sands will provide you with, as that way they can be traced through our Google Docs Spreadsheet, which you are more than welcome to view (again just ask Sands for the details), and with the cats name.

We drive in three hour shifts, stopping every three hours to check the cats and dogs and fill up their water, top up the Van with fuel, and take on some food and drink ourselves, as well as take a short break to stretch and get some circulation going through the body (achieved by walking the dogs every three hours)!

We drive straight through with a number of short breaks to rest.

We will provide regular progress updates via Twitter which are posted directly in the sidebar on the site along with any TwitPics that we take en route.

The cost is 40€ per cat and 100€ for a small/medium dog and 200€ for a large dog. A small/medium dog must be able to fit in a Flight box that is 71 x 52 x 55 cm and a large dog must be able to fit in a cage that is 89 x 60 x 66cm. As a rule we take the cage and use it for two small/medium dogs or one large dog.

Re-homed Cat and Dog Transport to UK

We can transport a maximum of TEN animals on each trip. This number is fixed by the customs limitation of five animals per individual. To carry more would take us into TRACES and Commercial territory which is not something we want to do.

The costs are: Large Dog 280€, Medium Dog 240€, Small Dog or Cat 200€, which include the cost of the Shuttle.

The above costs assume we are collecting the dogs on route: basically on the A7/E15 and dropping them off in the UK at the Folkestone Service Station or on route to Stoke (M20/M25/M40/M42/M6).

We are more than happy to try and deliver the dogs to specific locations but we may need to charge more for this depending on the location so please ask and we will quote a price.

We are also able to collect dogs from in Spain prior to travel and keep them for several nights before each trip so if this is something that you require again please ask for a quote.

If you ask us to take a cat or dog please ensure that you have the funds and paperwork in place first. We simply can’t run these transports at anything less than full capacity if we are to cover the costs, so if you pull out there is every chance that the transport will be cancelled and the remaining dogs and new owners will all be let down.

You can see the latest DEFRA guidelines here

Our schedule for these trips is based on:

Friday
8.30am Depart Almerimar

Saturday
9.30am arrive Calais Shuttle

Please note that because we have been let down in the past with people confirming but then putting dogs on earlier transports which puts our remaining dogs at risk we have had to implement a 25% non refundable deposit at the time of booking.

IF in the unfortunate event that a re-homed dog doesn’t settle in the UK and needs to be returned to the rescue centre in Spain we will do this for FREE for dogs that we transported to the UK.

We will of course bring dogs back from the UK to Spain if required. The costs are exactly the same, but if you want your dog taking both ways we will discount the UK to Spain transport by 50%.

If you are interested in having your dog or cat transported to the UK please check out our form here

Transport of Rescue Animals In Spain

We are more than happy to try and help relocate rescued animals within Spain, either to new homes or other rescue homes.

This is a non-profit service that we offer, so long as we cover our costs and all out of pocket expenses.

If you are interested please give us a shout and we will discuss your requirements and provide a quote for any job.

Please Note

In ALL circumstances the “client” is responsible for the pets passport going into the UK. If the animal’s passport is not complete and the animal needs to be held in customs, quarantined or taken to a vets we will do all we can to help but can not incur any costs or delays to our schedule.

If you are collecting a dog from us in the UK please bring your passport with you so we know we handing the dog over to the correct person.

Repsol Santamera Service Station

The service station is J750 which is just after the MU414 intersection.
